Get Ready For Spring!

It’s that time of year again!

We’re all grabbing our Windex, paper towels, all-purpose cleaning spray, and toothbrushes. That’s right- spring cleaning is upon us. For some, we can’t wait to jump into the cleaning frenzy. But others are more hesitant because… What do we actually NEED for spring cleaning, and how much will it cost?

We have put together a list of six essentials you’ll need for a flawless spring cleaning! Also, we included the average cost to purchase this equipment versus what it will cost to rent it for a day from One Garage Over!

Power Washer

The benefits of a power washer are priceless! You can clean grime and weather wear off your fencing, brick/siding, driveway, garage door, outdoor furniture, and even trash cans. A few good brands are Karcher, Generac, AR Blue Clean, and Greenworks. Average purchase cost: $350-$450. Average rental cost from One Garage Over: $15-$30/day.

Rototiller

Thinking about starting a garden this spring? How about helping your flower bed out a bit? After a long fall and winter, the ground in your front beds will be tough and compact. A rototill should definitely be on your list of must-haves. These amazing power tools loosen up dirt and cuts down significantly on the time it would take to do it with any other garden tool. Some trusted brands are Craftsman, Earthwise, and Husqvarna. Average purchase cost: $175-$350. Average rental cost from One Garage Over: $15-$25/day.

Hedge trimmer

While we’re talking about gardens, have you taken a look at your hedges? If they’re anything like mine, you might be thinking “yikes.”
Hedge trimmers can come in a variety of styles and sizes. Some are manual (think large scissors!) and some are electric or gas. Whichever kind you’re most comfortable with using, there’s one out there for you! A few great brands include G Tech, Bosch, Stihl, and Black & Decker. Average purchase cost: $50-$175. Average rental cost from One Garage Over: $10-$20/day.

Lawn Mower

I don’t know many people who truly enjoy mowing their lawn. But the grass is no longer dormant after the winter, and it’s time to get it looking green and clean once more. There are several types of lawn mowers, from push-mowers, to riding lawnmowers, to tractors. Suggested brands are Husqvarna, Snapper, Toro, and Craftsman. Average purchase cost: $150-$300. Average rental cost from One Garage Over: $15-$25/day.

Ladder

Throughout the fall and winter, piles of leaves can clog gutters and make it difficult for the water to come down the drains. A nice ladder could be your answer keeping your gutters clean and basements dry by making sure the water moves away from the foundation of your house! What about washing the exterior windows on your home? Depending on your needs, you may only need a step ladder while others may require a large extension ladder. Trusted brands include Werner, Keller, Little Giant, and Babcock. Average purchase cost: $60-$150. Average rental cost from One Garage Over: $5-$20/day.

Steam cleaner

Let’s move indoors! Carpet can become quite the beast with how much pet hair, dirt, and germs it holds. Vacuuming can only do much, but a steam cleaner can get deep down into the carpet and pull out what’s hiding underneath. There are handheld steam cleaners, push steam cleaners, hardwood/tile steam cleaners, and many others. A couple brands to check out are Bissell and Euroflex. Average purchase cost: $150-$300. Average rental cost from One Garage Over: $15-$25/day.

So there you have it! It’s time to attack your house and lawn, and now you know where to start.

Happy Spring Cleaning!
